Three reflections

The sites that I found during this assignment I think would be infinitely helpful. These resources can really help out in the classroom because they offer a fun opportunity for the students to work on the math skills that we have been teaching them these sites offer a chance for a fun look at what they have been seeing on paper during all of the teaching. This could really be used in the classroom because we could use them in centers or for extra practice. These sites were fantastic because the offer a fun way to look at the material that we have been covering.

The videos for this assignment are also very useful because they can show the new approaches to solving math problems. This is very useful because it can be helpful for the parent to see how they can see how the students are learning to add and subtract. These videos can show the new methods that are being introduced in the classroom, which are different than what they were taught.

The wordle can also be very helpful this can be used in the classroom by having the student seeing the different mathematical vocabulary, this can help them become familiar with the words and it can also help them to understand what they all mean and are with some extra practice. the way that I would incorporate these in the classroom would be to have the kids look for the words that are in it, also I would have the students do some activity to find the definitions for each of the words. Another incorporation for the classroom would be for the students to create their own wordle as an activity.

Teacher Resources

In this post I will provide different resources for the teacher to use to assist with teaching addition and subtraction.

Here is a game that will practice their subtraction by playing a bowling game, this could be used at a station in the classroom during rotations. This game is a fun way for the students to work on their subtractions skills. Below is the game.

Here is a game that works on number groups, the students have to add students to a bus to make the right number appear. This game would work well in rotations with the students emphasizing numbers a grouping.

Here is a very fun math game that helps the students get their fast addition practice in. It shows problems and the answers must be chosen quickly or else they will run out of time.

Here the students will practice adding nickels and pennies, this will not only strengthen their addition skills and also help introduce them to working with money.

This link works on the students ability to add money. This will not only help them with their addition skills but it will also help them with becoming familiar with money.

Wordle

Here is a fun wordle that shows the different math words that we will be covering in our class.

Student Resources

In this post, there are things available for the students that will help them to work on their skills at home to help them with practicing what we are going over in the classroom.

Here is a link that will take you to an interactive number base block that is available for your children to use for practice with addition. By looking at the addition problem that is posed, your children can move the blocks around to pair them up until they can reach a group of 10, this will help them not only by being able to manipulate the blocks and see them there, it can also help them to see how the numbers can be grouped to make a group of 10. This can be very helpful for the students to keep track of the numbers.

Here is a link that is similar to the organizer that I posted above however it is for subtraction problems. It offers the same benefits as the addition organizer, letting the students see how the numbers can be grouped together. This organizer also breaks up the 10s blocks into ones digits so that the students can see how they will need to regroup in order to solve the problems.

Here is an addition game that is based off of an alien invasion, and by adding up the problems and shooting the UFO that has the correct answer, as the question appears at the bottom of the screen the student have to click the correct answer that is shown on a little flying spaceship. This game is a fun way to drill and practice and it also works on mental math skills, meaning that the students don't have time to write out the questions, and it would be difficult for them to count it out on their fingers, this game really helps with the speediness of the response.

Here is a game that can help with the students number sense and can help them to see how the numbers can be added together to make the sum. It follows the abacus model to represent numbers and can be used to help with addition.

Here is a very fun game for the students to play that will help them with their subtraction practice, they can try to knock down all of the pins by solving the subtraction problems correctly.

Welcome to Math Blog

Welcome! This blog is designed to provide help with teaching different math facts to help you with instructing your students. In this blog, I will provide different links that will cover the areas that we will be covering this year. These links should be used by you as resources to help your child out with learning the material that we will be covering.
